The origins of #followwomenjournas
A blog post I wrote yesterday about male journalists being followed more than women, has apparently served as the catalyst for the #followwomenjournas hashtag being used on Twitter to promote female journalists.
I constantly experimint with ways to present stories, so I decided to use MultiURL to share links to tweets that show how the the hashtag was created and spread to canada.
I was just sharing a post
New York-based Mediabistro qualified and retweeted the link
Christy Harvey in Washington, DC called it discrimination
Which author Sarah Posner picked up on
Yes, Posner has authored pieces longer than 140 characters
No, I am not an Amazon affiliate
To address tho disparity, Posner proposed a solution
Which was picked up by reporter Joanna Smith in Ottawa, Canada
Not to mention all of these people
Eventually, the origin of the hashtag was lost
But it was still being used, even by people of the male gender
But Canadian columnist Antonia Zerbisias helped me find its origin quickly
You can use Friendfeed to see if #followwomenjournas spreads to social media tools other than Twitter
Please let me know if this presentation works for you. Oh, Posterous is another tool that I experiment with, it will not replace Almighty Link.
